For the past few months I’ve been working with a special acrobatic pole dance performer named Carolyn Chiu (www.CarolynChiu.com). This has taken me into the emerging world of pole choreography. An art form that is currently coming into its own.
I attended events at the American Folk Art Museum and MoMA’s PS1 while also shooting at a pole studio (www.bodyandpole.com) and other places around NYC like Central Park and Wall Street.
“Human Sculptures” honors the beauty and eccentricity of the human body while revealing the future face of pole dancing, which exists as a legitimate form of artistic physical expression.
